TOKYO, Feb. 1 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Thursday as investors snapped up bargains following the Nikkei's six-day losing streak.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 157.76 points, or 0.68 percent, from Wednesday to 23,256.05.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 12.70 points, or 0.69 percent, to 1,849.41.
Bank, nonferrous metal and mining issues comprised issues that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
