TOKYO, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks were mixed Wednesday morning as Wall Street's rally overnight spurred buying, while the Nikkei's three-day winning streak saw some investors opt for profits.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 53.54 points, or 0.22 percent, from Tuesday to 23,796.45.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, edged up 1.70 points, or 0.09 percent, at 1,890.99.
Precision instrument and food issues comprised notable decliners, while mining and insurance-linked issues led gainers by the morning break.
