TOKYO, Dec. 25 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks were almost flat in thin trading Monday morning as many investors were away for the Christmas break, with sentiment dented by Wall Street's slide at the end of last week.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average edged down 14.87 points, or 0.06 percent, from Friday to 22,887.89.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, shed 1.90 points, or 0.10 percent, to 1,827.18.
Securities and bank-related issues comprised those that declined the most by the close of play. Meanwhile, real estate and mining issues led those that gained.
