BEIJING, May 14 (Xinhua) -- Turkey will take advantage of its unique geographical position in supporting the initiative on the construction of the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road (the Belt and Road Initiative), Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said here on Sunday.
Sitting at the crossroad of Asia and Europe, Turkey wishes to bring its unique geographical location into full play, Erdogan said at the opening ceremony of the Belt and Road International Cooperation Forum.
Turkey has already started a series of infrastructure projects to boost inter-connectivity between the two continents, Erdogan noted.
He called on the two sides to better coordinate the Belt and Road Initiative and Turkey's Middle Corridor project that links the country with central Asia and China.
Erdogan also pledged Turkey will provide full support for the Belt and Road Initiative, which is proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping in 2013 and, which aims to build a trade and infrastructure network along ancient trade routes connecting Asia with Europe, Africa and beyond.
